Mission & Values
Worcester is in its “Second Act.” From the transformation of CitySquare to the rising skyline of our downtown, the city is moving faster than ever. But at What’s Up Worcester, we believe a city is defined by more than just its buildings. It’s defined by its people.
Since our founding, we’ve been on the ground in every neighborhood, from Main South to Burncoat, ensuring that the stories of our residents, small business owners, and community leaders are told with accuracy and heart. We aren’t just a news platform. We are a community partner dedicated to serving the public interest and strengthening civic life across the 508.
Our Mission

What’s Up Worcester exists to strengthen Worcester by amplifying the voices, leaders, and stories of our most overlooked and underserved communities.
What We Do
We bridge the gap between City Hall and your front porch. Our coverage focuses on the four pillars that define Worcester’s future and advance the public good:
Neighborhood Advocacy
Keeping residents informed on housing, development, and local issues that directly impact quality of life.
Small Business Support
Highlighting local shops and community-based landlords who serve as the backbone of Worcester’s local economy.
Workforce and Growth
Connecting residents to education, training, and emerging opportunities in Worcester’s growing biotech, green-tech, and creative sectors.
Culture and Connection
Celebrating the diverse food, arts, and events that strengthen community identity and belonging.
Our Values

Community First
We prioritize the needs, voices, and lived experiences of Worcester residents in all of our reporting and programming.
Accuracy and Accountability
We are committed to ethical journalism, factual reporting, and transparency in service of the public.
Access and Inclusion
We work to ensure local news is accessible, understandable, and reflective of Worcester’s full diversity.
Civic Engagement
We believe informed communities are stronger communities. Our work supports public awareness and participation in local civic life.
