City of Worcester Opens Applications for Green Hill Park Community Garden Plots
By What’s Up Worcester Staff
The City of Worcester announced Monday that applications for the Green Hill Park Community Garden plots are now open to residents.
The community garden, which officially opened last August following renovations by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cemetery, offers residents the opportunity to secure planting beds for the upcoming season. City officials noted the garden is part of a broader municipal effort to reduce food insecurity and increase local access to healthy food.
The facility includes 124 raised planting beds of various sizes, three ground level planting beds, and eight accessible raised beds designed for individuals using mobility devices. The garden area also features newly paved walkways and accessible parking.
Additional amenities at the site include benches, a storage shed, water spigots, debris bins, pedestrian lighting, and security cameras. The recent project also improved pedestrian access to the nearby golf course, added a new greenhouse for municipal plant growth, and renovated a historic stone wall from the original Green Family homestead.
Applications are being accepted on a first come, first serve basis through April 3, 2026. Residents can access the application through the City of Worcester website.
